Joseph Opoku Gakpo is the 2018 International Federation of Agricultural Journalists’ best reporter in video reporting. He is an online and broadcast journalist with the Multimedia Group Limited in Ghana, reporting on environment, agriculture and rural development. He holds a first degree in agricultural biotechnology, a master’s degree in communication studies, as well as a Global Leadership Course Certificate from Ivy League institution Cornell University in USA.

Mobile Telecommunications giant MTN recently named him as a Hero of Change over how a story he produced about absence of basic amenities in some communities in rural Ghana resulted in NGOs providing them with water, light and other facilities.

Joseph is of the firm conviction that agriculture remains key to help lift Africa out of poverty and that is why prioritises the sector in the stories he tells.
